The crash occurred on Feb. 28, at approximately 3:51 p.m. at the intersection of Tuckerton Avenue and Pershing Avenue, according to Manchester Township Police.

Responding officers found a white 2014 Toyota Corolla with front-end and windshield damage parked on the side of the road. The driver, a 45-year-Manchester woman, was uninjured, authorities said.

The pedestrian, 77, of Whiting, had been thrown about 20 feet upon impact, police said. She was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she remains in critical condition with severe injuries.

Police said Carrizales was driving west on Pershing Avenue at the time of the crash, while Mosley was crossing south on Tuckerton Avenue with her dog. Investigators determined that the Toyota struck Mosley in the intersection before she was thrown onto the roadway.

Authorities said sun glare and failure to yield were primary factors in the crash, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Firefighters and EMTs from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Medical Services, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and the NJSP South Star Air Medical Helicopter all assisted at the scene, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Conner Yatauro of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit.
